The Spirit of Competition...

PebbleCreek White Tanks Golf is all about the spirit of competition. Each summer, four West Valley golf club communities get together for a spirited team competition known as the "White Tanks Golf League". The White Tanks Golf League consists of four matches, each held on the last Friday of the month from May through August. The matches are two man team match play events (typically best ball, scramble, shamble, and singles matches) with points awarded for match wins and ties. At the end of the summer season an overall White Tanks Cup winner is determined.

The Process

I.) Signup

Each year the PebbleCreek White Tanks Golf signup is opened to selected PebbleCreek resident men with an official GHIN golf handicap index of 12 or below from the Blue tees or longer. The sign up period typically runs from March 1 through May 1.

II.) Review

Once the signup period is closed the team captain and vice-captains review, confirm, and evaluate all of the registrations.

III.) Roster Announcement

The team captain will announce the entire PebbleCreek roster after the signups and reviews have been completed.

IV.) Play-In Events

Each White Tank Cup match involves a team of 16 players. Our goal is to assemble the best team possible based on the players' strengths. To narrow down the players to 16 we will hold a "play-in" tournament to determine 8 automatic qualifiers. This would typically be rounds to be played within certain time periods with designated course and tees requested. These rounds would then be posted for team captain review.

The captain will then select an additional 8 captain's picks to complete the team. We intend to repeat this process for each of the four monthly matches. By having the play-in tournament, every person who signed up as available has a chance to be on the team for that month. The captain's picks then allows flexibility in creating the best matches for each two-man team.

V.) Tournament Match Teams & Pairings

For each of the four tournament matches the team captain will announce the tournament match team and pairings shortly before the match start. Note that tournament match teams and pairings would certainly change from match to match based on many factors.
